Reporting to the Partner, Digital / Social and Managing Director, Digital, the Marketing Automation Director’s primary responsibilities include building and maintaining client relationships, internal team collaboration and management, marketing automation strategy and execution, and vendor management.
Overview
The Automation Director coordinates the resources needed to manage building and developing strategic automation plans while balancing the expectations of clients with the execution of LDWW services - services include but not limited to website and tech stack, chatbot, SMS, automated workflows, and data analysis.
Additional responsibilities include vendor management and an understanding of data analytics.
Digital Strategy
The Automation Director will help use web technologies to consult and achieve client objectives. This role will be an integral piece of varying digital projects among the agency and will provide strategic direction to clients, partners and team leads regarding the combination of all relevant digital marketing channels and platforms.
They will work to create integrated digital marketing strategies, leveraging website, automation and tech stack capabilities (including, but not limited to tracking pixels, token integration, eCommerce catalogs, etc.) to support the user journey, social media, email and paid media initiatives. This role will work closely with the Digital Marketing Director to create fully integrated digital/automation strategies.
Marketing Automation
The Automation Director will be responsible for leading the advancement of customer relationship tools, such as TalkDesk, HubSpot and SharpSpring and will demonstrate a sound understanding of marketing automation strategy and the latest trends in digital and demand techniques. They will be in charge of optimizing marketing automation tools to support the user journey while exhibiting a blend of outcome and data driven orientation.
Internal Collaboration and Team Development
The Automation Director will oversee projects including the implementation of automation chatflows and workflows, SMS platforms, conversion tracking, reporting, and beyond. They are inherently collaborative and possess excellent communication skills. They work to bring team members alongside them, understanding team success can speak to individual success.

Main Responsibilities
Provide the high-level technology strategy and management for digital marketing automation projects and capabilities.
Oversee marketing automation development, workflows and execution, including building chatflows, segmentations, SMS platform application, etc.
Collaborate with both Digital / Social and non-Digital areas of the business, bridging the gap between the business problem and a digital solution.
Contextualize and apply data - including gathering, organization, interpretation, recommendation development, etc. - to inform the development of programs, content, and experiences.
Serve as the marketing automation subject matter expert, deepening functional expertise, staying abreast of trends, and helping shape ongoing integrations with the CRM, CMS, SMS, and analytic tools.
Author clear, concise and technically sophisticated reports; proactively identify opportunities to build from these findings to next steps or new applications.

Skills and Expertise
Excellent interpersonal and client relations skills

Knowledge of SMS, marketing automation, and CRMs is required
A strong understanding of digital analytics/KPIS and how they can be used to achieve goals.
Familiarity with Google Analytics/GA4
Intermediate experience with CRM tools like HubSpot, TalkDesk and Salesforce required
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications or a related field
5-7 years of professional experience in digital marketing or marketing automation is preferred.
UX experience is a plus.
