PR Director

In this PR Director position, you will have the opportunity to truly grow in your career as you support the agency team in the following areas of corporate communications for clients: strategy and planning, news operations (everything from coming up with story ideas to pitching them), strategic materials development (think news releases, interview materials, etc.), strategic media relations, corporate message development, executive thought leadership, event support, digital/social communications and brand liaison communications. When it comes to media relations, your primary focus will be on the corporate/business, general consumer, travel and trade media segments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of strategic external and executive communications planning
  • Develop and execute global internal and external communications plans including strategy, goals, budget and tactics
  • Provide initial drafts of media materials (news releases, pitch emails, social posts, etc.) and develop writing skills over time
  • Learn fundamentals of media search tools, media research (Muck Rack, Google, news sites, etc.) to develop media lists for clients and their key initiatives, products, and services
  • Participate in client meetings/calls and accurately capture meeting notes, next steps, etc.
  • Develop reporting skills, including ability to monitor, analyze and communicate results from PR/media and/or digital/social campaigns, along with monthly activity recap reports
  • Proactively provide ideas that strategically align with client business goals
  • Support corporate media opportunities and interviews holistically, including media relations, scheduling, backgrounding, interview preparation, staffing, follow-up, executive counsel/feedback and monitoring
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client industry trends; monitor client industry issues and competitive landscape
  • Balance multiple client priorities against time constraints and consistently meet deadlines
  • Follow relevant news sites and generate ongoing story ideas and topic angles

 

Quallifications

  • 0-1 years professional experience in a corporate, agency or marketing communications role, or other applicable experience that will be applied to getting results in this position
  • A “roll up your sleeves and get it done” mentality; Willingness to jump in on projects or help other client teams, as needed
  • Demonstration of good teamwork and supporting both managers and teammates on client/agency work
  • Proactively updates team members on the status of work, key milestones and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of local, national and international trade and industry media outlets
  • Personal drive to succeed, anticipate needs and go above and beyond to get results for clients
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
